Wellness Care

 

In order for our pets to stay as healthy as possible we recommend you visit your vet annually for a check up, heartworm check and necessary vaccinations. 

Vaccinations For Dogs

  • Rabies:  Required by law.  A fatal infection affecting the central nervous system which is transmitted through the bite of an infected animal. All animals must by current on their Rabies vaccination in order to be seen at our hospital.

  • DHPP:  Prevents distemper, adenovirus (hepititis), parainfluenza and parvovirus.

  • Leptospirosis:  Helps prevent Leptospirosis bacteria which can also cause disease in humans.

  • Lyme:  Helps prevent Lyme disease. Lyme disease is transmitted by tick bite and should be considered in high risk patients or those not on an oral tick preventative.

  • Bordetella/Kennel Cough:  Recommended every 6 months. This disease is very contagious and can cause upper respiratory disease and even pneumonia. The illness is characterized by a dry, hacking cough, often with gagging and retching.

  • CIV/Canine Influenza Vaccine:  A severe respiratory infection. Dogs that frequent dog parks, are kenneled or around multiple other dogs are especially at risk. There are two strains, H3N8 and H3N2. The bivalent vaccine covers both strains.​

 

 Vaccinations For Cats

  • Rabies:  Required by law whether your cat is kept inside only or not. 

  • FVRCP:  Protects against the viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia and chlamidia.

  • Feline Leukemia:  Highly contagious and devastating viral disease that decreases the ability of the imune system to respond to infection. Recommended for all cats that go outdoors and in some multi-cat households.
